Aerial Class

Unleash Your Inner Grace In Our Silks & Lyra Aerials Classes

What is Aerials classes at IEM?

Aerials classes are a 45 minute class learning both silks and lyra apparatuses.

Silks, the pink material, are used to wrap, climb and hang from, to create beautiful aerial positions with the body and moving onto drops and hangs as the student advances.

Lyra, sometimes also referred to as hoop, is a metal hoop wrapped in tape. Using their upper body strength, students will learn to mount and dismount

Beginner / Intermediate

In our beginner to intermediate level aerial silks and lyra class, participants learn a variety of fundamental techniques and skills.

In aerial silks, students start with basic climbs, wraps, and poses, gradually progressing to more complex moves like drops and spins. They also learn how to combine these elements into sequences.

For lyra, beginners begin with foundational skills like mounting and dismounting the hoop, basic hangs, and poses. As they advance, they learn more challenging moves such as inversions, spins, and transitions between poses. The class focuses on building strength, flexibility, and body awareness, while also emphasising safety and proper technique.

Intermediate / Advance

Our intermediate to advanced silks and Lyra (aerial hoop) classes offer a comprehensive and demanding training experience for individuals with prior aerial experience. The class is designed to refine and expand participants’ skills in both the silks and Lyra.

The curriculum focuses on teaching intricate and challenging sequences, drops, poses, and transitions on both the silks and the Lyra. Students will work on increasing strength, flexibility, and body awareness to execute these advanced manoeuvres with grace and control.

The class will often include partner work, dynamic movements, and creative exploration to encourage students to develop their unique style and performance quality.
